Prime Minister says Hangor submarine project will strengthen Pakistan Navy's maritime defence capabilities

ISLAMABAD (Finale) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated the Pakistan Navy on the arrival of PNS/M Hangor, describing it as a major milestone in strengthening the country’s maritime defence capabilities.

In a statement, the prime minister said the Hangor submarine project is a symbol of the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China and reflects the strong strategic cooperation between the two countries in the defence sector.

Shehbaz Sharif stated that the induction of PNS/M Hangor would significantly enhance the operational capabilities of the Pakistan Navy and contribute to safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime interests and coastal boundaries.

The prime minister emphasized that the submarine project represents an important step in Pakistan’s journey toward defence self-reliance and modernization of its armed forces.

He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace, stability and strategic balance in the region while simultaneously strengthening its defence preparedness to meet emerging security challenges.

Shehbaz Sharif further stated that the government would continue providing all necessary resources to enhance the professional capabilities of Pakistan’s security forces and equip them with modern technologies required to address evolving defence needs.

The prime minister also praised the professional expertise and dedication of the Pakistan Navy, engineers and technical specialists who contributed to the successful execution of the Hangor submarine project.
