Federal Minister for Communications and President of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), Abdul Aleem Khan, has termed the signing of the historic Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran a major breakthrough in global diplomacy.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Aleem Khan said the agreement demonstrates that even the most complex international disputes can be resolved through dialogue, diplomacy, and strategic engagement. He added that Pakistan’s successful role in facilitating the accord once again highlights its importance as a guarantor of regional peace and global stability.
The federal minister congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his leadership, commitment to peace, and efforts in promoting diplomatic solutions. He said Pakistan’s standing on the international stage has been significantly strengthened under the prime minister’s guidance.
Aleem Khan also paid special tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, describing his role in the diplomatic process as pivotal. He said the army chief’s dedication and efforts were instrumental in helping achieve the historic breakthrough.
The IPP president further praised Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for their contributions, stating that both leaders played crucial roles in ensuring the success of the diplomatic initiative.
He also thanked friendly countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt, for their constructive support throughout the process.
Abdul Aleem Khan acknowledged the roles of US President Donald Trump, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, and President Masoud Pezeshkian for choosing the path of dialogue and peace.
He expressed hope that the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the lifting of the maritime blockade would provide economic relief, strengthen global trade routes, and contribute to lasting regional stability.
Concluding his statement, Aleem Khan said the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding would serve as a foundation for mutual respect, shared prosperity, and long-term cooperation, adding that Pakistan stands proud as a nation committed to global peace and stability.
