Lahore Administration Accelerates ‘Suthra Punjab’ Drive, Oversees Transparent Land Compensation Process

Deputy Commissioner Lahore Captain (R) Muhammad Ali Ijaz conducted an extensive field visit to Tehsil Nishtar and LDA City to review sanitation operations and oversee the ongoing land compensation process, reaffirming the district administration’s focus on public welfare, environmental improvement, and transparent governance.

The visit commenced at Main Rahmat Park Road in Tehsil Nishtar, where the deputy commissioner inspected sanitation arrangements being carried out under the Punjab government’s “Suthra Punjab” initiative. During the inspection, officials briefed him on the successful clearance of eleven garbage dumping points that had become a persistent source of environmental and public health concerns in residential neighborhoods.
Lahore (Zuaib Butt) Authorities informed the deputy commissioner that efforts to backfill and level vacant plots are being accelerated to prevent illegal dumping and improve overall cleanliness in the area. The initiative is aimed at eliminating waste accumulation, reducing environmental hazards, and enhancing the urban landscape.

Captain (R) Muhammad Ali Ijaz directed sanitation officials and enforcement teams to establish a permanent monitoring mechanism for open plots across the district. He instructed relevant departments to complete all backfilling activities before the arrival of the monsoon season, emphasizing that proactive measures are essential to prevent urban flooding, stagnant water, and potential disease outbreaks.

The deputy commissioner also reiterated a strict policy against illegal dumping and directed field teams to continue regular inspections to ensure sustained cleanliness standards in residential and commercial areas.

Later, Muhammad Ali Ijaz visited the One-Window Compensation Cell established at LDA City C-Block, where he reviewed arrangements for the disbursement of compensation to affectees of Mauza Toor Warraich. During the visit, he assessed the administrative workflow and directed officials to expedite claim processing to facilitate landowners without unnecessary delays.

Special instructions were issued to ensure that elderly citizens and women receive priority assistance and are provided a respectful and comfortable environment during verification and documentation procedures. The deputy commissioner emphasized that efficient service delivery and public convenience should remain central to all administrative operations.

Officials informed him that the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and district administration are working jointly to ensure transparency, accountability, and the timely release of pending compensation payments. Eligible landowners were urged to present original legal documents to complete the verification process and receive their compensation without delay.

Speaking during the visits, the deputy commissioner underscored the importance of translating public policy into visible on-ground results. He stated that environmental improvement, citizen facilitation, and protection of public rights remain key priorities of the district administration, adding that effective governance depends on both efficient municipal services and transparent administrative practices.

The inspections reflect the administration’s broader efforts to improve urban management, strengthen public service delivery, and ensure that development initiatives directly benefit local communities.
