Celebratory Gunfire at Wedding Kills 2 Teenagers in Karachi

Karachi (Finale)A wedding celebration in Karachi’s Orangi Town ended in tragedy after celebratory gunfire allegedly claimed the lives of two teenagers late at night.

According to police, the incident occurred near Ashraf Jahangir Park in Orangi Town No. 14 when a wedding procession returned to the area and aerial firing was reportedly carried out during the celebrations.

The victims were identified as 17-year-old Saifullah and 15-year-old Anas, both residents of the same neighborhood. Family members said Anas suffered a gunshot wound to the head, while Saifullah was struck in the chest.

Police said one of the boys died at the scene, while the other was rushed to hospital in critical condition. However, the injured teenager later succumbed to his wounds during treatment.

Authorities have arrested the groom, Taha Waseem, and his brother Tariq in connection with the incident. Investigators also recovered a 9mm pistol believed to have been used during the firing.

Police officials confirmed that evidence has been collected from the scene and forensic examinations are underway. Further investigations are being conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and establish responsibility.

The deaths have sparked renewed concerns over the dangerous practice of celebratory gunfire at weddings and public events, which continues to claim lives despite repeated warnings and legal restrictions.
