Punjab Police has successfully resolved more than 53,000 public complaints received through the IGP Complaint Center 1787 during the current year, reflecting continued efforts to improve citizen services and accountability within the police department.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, complaints submitted by citizens are being addressed within the prescribed timelines under standard operating procedures. Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Karim, stated that monitoring mechanisms have been further strengthened to enhance the effectiveness of the 1787 complaint management system.
The IGP said District Police Officers (DPOs) are personally monitoring complaint resolution to ensure prompt action and relief for complainants across the province.
Statistics released by Punjab Police show that 25,061 complaints related to FIR registration and 12,796 complaints regarding delayed investigations have been resolved. Additionally, 3,884 complaints concerning police services and 11,834 departmental and other complaints were addressed.
Authorities also resolved 2,859 complaints related to the arrest of suspects, 4,524 complaints regarding recoveries, and 2,627 complaints about faulty investigations. Furthermore, 1,321 complaints seeking the cancellation of false cases and 897 complaints related to the transfer of investigations were successfully handled.
IG Punjab Abdul Karim encouraged citizens to contact the 1787 Complaint Center without hesitation if they face any issues involving police personnel, assuring that all complaints are reviewed and addressed through the established mechanism.
