Fourteen people lost their lives and 1,730 others were injured in 1,466 road traffic crashes reported across Punjab during the last 24 hours, according to the Emergency Services Department (Rescue 1122).
Rescue officials said 803 seriously injured victims were shifted to hospitals for medical treatment, while 927 people with minor injuries received first aid at accident sites by Rescue Medical Teams, helping reduce pressure on healthcare facilities.
The report revealed that motorcycles were involved in 79 percent of all road traffic crashes, highlighting the need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws, helmet use, and lane discipline to curb the growing number of accidents.
Among the victims were 967 drivers, 60 underage drivers, 172 pedestrians, and 606 passengers. Lahore recorded the highest number of crashes with 245 accidents affecting 287 people. Multan ranked second with 102 crashes and 122 victims, followed by Faisalabad with 95 crashes involving 109 victims.
A total of 1,744 people were affected by the accidents, including 1,378 men and 366 women. The age analysis showed that 363 victims were under 18 years old, 907 were between 18 and 40 years of age, while 474 victims were above 40.
According to the data, 1,570 motorcycles, 90 auto-rickshaws, 153 cars, 23 vans, 21 passenger buses, 49 trucks, and 70 other vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the reported road traffic crashes across Punjab.
