Three Suspects Killed, Two Arrested in CCD Operation Linked to Attack on Punjab Lawmaker

Authorities say key suspects involved in deadly assault on MPA Col (R) Ayub Khan Gadhi were neutralized during an exchange of fire in Toba Tek Singh

Lahore/Toba Tek Singh (Abu Ghazi) Three alleged suspects accused of carrying out a deadly attack on Punjab Assembly member Col (R) Ayub Khan Gadhi were killed and two others arrested during a Counter Crime Department (CCD) operation in Toba Tek Singh, authorities said.

According to officials, the operation was launched in the jurisdiction of Rajana police station after law enforcement agencies received intelligence regarding the whereabouts of suspects wanted in connection with the recent attack on the lawmaker’s residence.

Authorities said CCD teams moved to apprehend the suspects, who allegedly opened indiscriminate fire upon seeing law enforcement personnel. An exchange of gunfire followed, resulting in the deaths of three key suspects at the scene.

Two additional suspects were taken into custody during the operation, while weapons and ammunition were recovered from those involved, officials added.

The suspects were wanted in connection with an armed assault carried out several days ago at the dera (residence) of MPA Col (R) Ayub Khan Gadhi. The attack left the lawmaker seriously injured and resulted in the deaths of four civilians who were present at the location.

Investigators believe the suspects played central roles in planning and executing the assault. Authorities are continuing efforts to determine the full motive behind the attack and identify any wider criminal network involved.

Law enforcement officials said special CCD teams have been formed to track down and arrest other suspects who may have participated in the incident or provided logistical support.

The latest operation is being viewed as a significant development in the investigation into one of the region’s most high-profile attacks in recent weeks. Officials have pledged to continue operations until all individuals connected to the case are brought to justice.

Further investigations are underway.
