Punjab Police on High Alert as Special Prayer Services Held in Churches Across Province
IG Punjab directs enhanced security measures at churches, deployment of additional personnel, and intensified patrols to ensure peaceful worship services.
Lahore (Zuaib Butt) Punjab Police has been placed on high alert as Christian communities gathered for special prayer and worship services in churches across Lahore and other districts of the province.
Inspector General of Punjab Police, Abdul Karim, has issued directives to Regional Police Officers (RPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs), and senior police officials to strengthen security arrangements at churches and other sensitive locations.
According to the instructions, supervisory officers have been directed to personally inspect security measures at churches and ensure that all protective arrangements are fully implemented. Special attention is being given to sensitive places of worship and areas with significant Christian populations.
The IG Punjab ordered the deployment of additional police personnel and snipers at sensitive churches to enhance security and prevent any untoward incidents. Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), and Elite Force teams have also been tasked with conducting effective patrolling around churches and nearby areas.
Police officers and personnel assigned to security duties have been instructed to remain highly vigilant and maintain strict surveillance on suspicious activities. Authorities have emphasized a zero-tolerance approach toward any elements seeking to disrupt peace or create unrest.
Search and sweep operations are continuing around churches, Christian neighborhoods, and other sensitive locations as part of broader efforts to ensure public safety and maintain law and order.
Abdul Karim also called upon religious scholars, members of the Christian community, and peace committee representatives to play an active role in promoting interfaith harmony, tolerance, and unity.
Punjab Police stated that comprehensive security plans have been put in place across the province to facilitate peaceful religious observances and provide a secure environment for worshippers attending church services.
Officials reaffirmed their commitment to protecting places of worship and ensuring that citizens from all religious communities can practice their faith in safety and peace.
