Lahore (Zuaib Butt) Punjab Police have intensified their anti-narcotics campaign under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Drug-Free Punjab” vision, arresting more than 21,800 drug dealers and registering over 21,700 cases across the province this year.
According to Punjab Police spokesperson, law enforcement agencies have arrested 21,824 drug traffickers and peddlers while 21,712 cases have been registered during ongoing operations against narcotics networks.
Police recovered a massive quantity of illegal drugs, including 11,626 kilograms of hashish, 1,166 kilograms of heroin, 687 kilograms of crystal meth (Ice), 536 kilograms of opium, and more than 345,000 litres of liquor from arrested suspects.
In Lahore alone, authorities arrested 2,866 drug dealers and registered 2,775 cases. Recoveries in the provincial capital included 1,027 kilograms of hashish, 82 kilograms of heroin, 256 kilograms of crystal meth, 29 kilograms of opium, and 14,847 litres of liquor.
Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Karim directed field formations to further accelerate crackdowns against major drug dealers, smugglers and organized supply networks. He emphasized that all individuals involved in the narcotics supply chain must be brought to justice and face strict legal consequences.
The IG Punjab also ordered enhanced operations around educational institutions and hostels to curb drug trafficking targeting students and youth. He further instructed officers to take strict action against individuals involved in the online sale and distribution of narcotics.
Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to eliminating drug-related crime and ensuring a safer environment for communities across the province under the government’s anti-drug strategy.
