The annual ceremony to replace the Kiswa of the Holy Kaaba is scheduled to take place after Isha prayers on June 16, marking the arrival of 1 Muharram 1448 AH and the beginning of the Islamic New Year.

The new Kiswa, made from high-quality black silk and intricately embroidered with verses from the Holy Quran in gold and silver thread, will be installed at the site by a specialized technical team inside Masjid al-Haram.

The centuries-old tradition is carried out annually and symbolizes deep reverence for Islam’s holiest site. It also marks the spiritual significance of the Islamic New Year, observed by Muslims worldwide as a moment of reflection and renewal.

The replacement process is performed with strict organization and precision, involving the careful removal of the old Kiswa and installation of the new covering around the Ka’bah.
