Karachi Sizzles as Heat Index Soars to 48°C Amid Intense Weather Conditions
Residents advised to take precautions as extreme heat grips Pakistan’s largest city
Karachi (Finale) A severe heatwave continues to affect Karachi, with the heat index reaching as high as 48 degrees Celsius, intensifying discomfort for residents across the city.
Meteorological conditions, including high temperatures and humidity levels, have significantly increased the perceived temperature, making outdoor activities particularly challenging during daytime hours.
Health experts have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, stay hydrated, and take precautionary measures to prevent heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
The extreme weather has led to increased pressure on healthcare facilities, while authorities have urged residents, especially children, senior citizens, and outdoor workers, to exercise extra caution.
Citizens have also been encouraged to consume plenty of fluids, wear light clothing, and avoid strenuous activities during peak afternoon hours when temperatures are at their highest.
Weather conditions are being closely monitored, and relevant departments remain on alert to address any emergencies arising from the ongoing heatwave.
