
Lahore (Abu Ghazi) Federal Ombudsman Naveed Kamran Baloch visited the Regional Office of the Federal Ombudsman in Lahore, where he reviewed the institution’s performance and reiterated his commitment to improving public service delivery through organizational reforms and the adoption of modern technology.
During the visit, Member In-Charge Waqas Ali Mahmood briefed the Federal Ombudsman on the overall performance, achievements, and ongoing initiatives of the Lahore Regional Office. The Ombudsman appreciated the office’s performance and encouraged officers to continue efforts aimed at providing efficient and timely relief to citizens.
Speaking on the occasion, Naveed Kamran Baloch stressed the importance of organizational restructuring and technology-based solutions to make grievance redressal mechanisms more effective and accessible to the public. He emphasized expanding the scope of the Informal Resolution of Disputes (IRD) system and noted that a dedicated IRD Wing had been established to facilitate the prompt and informal resolution of public complaints.
The Federal Ombudsman also directed officials to strengthen outreach activities under the Open Court Resolution (OCR) program by conducting visits at the tehsil level to address citizens’ concerns closer to their communities and ensure speedy resolution of public issues.
Later, the Federal Ombudsman met Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman at his office. During the meeting, matters related to public service delivery, institutional coordination, and grievance redressal were discussed.
The Chief Secretary welcomed the Federal Ombudsman and appreciated the institution’s role in protecting citizens’ rights and ensuring accountability in public administration. He assured full cooperation from the Punjab government in facilitating the Ombudsman’s initiatives aimed at improving governance and public services.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening coordination between federal and provincial institutions to enhance transparency, efficiency, and citizen-centric governance across Punjab.
