China Offers Pakistan Access to Advanced Footwear Technology to Boost Industrial Growth

Chinese firms propose technology transfer, machinery supply, and industrial cooperation aimed at modernizing Pakistan’s footwear sector and enhancing exports.

Guangzhou ( Ghulam Haider) Chinese companies participating in the GISMA Guangzhou Exhibition have offered Pakistan access to advanced footwear manufacturing technology, machinery, and industrial expertise in a move that could significantly strengthen the country’s footwear industry and export potential.

The development was revealed by Muhammad Yasin, Chairman of the Pakistan Industrial Sewing Machines Importers and Dealers Association (PISMIDA), following a series of meetings with GISMA Guangzhou Exhibition President Zhan Ming and representatives of leading Chinese firms.

According to Yasin, Chinese companies expressed their willingness to provide Pakistan with state-of-the-art footwear production machinery, equipment, and accessory-related technologies. He noted that the technology displayed at the exhibition featured high production efficiency and advanced manufacturing capabilities that remain largely unavailable in Pakistan.

He pointed out that regional competitors, including Bangladesh, India, and Vietnam, have already benefited substantially from similar technological advancements, allowing them to strengthen their footwear industries and expand exports.

Yasin said that PISMIDA and GISMA have maintained a cooperation agreement for the past five years and are now exploring new avenues of collaboration. Preliminary discussions were also held regarding the possibility of organizing a similar industrial exhibition in Pakistan next year, with significant participation expected from Chinese companies.

Speaking alongside GISMA Foreign Trade Manager Ms. Zoe Chow, Yasin stated that Chinese organizations have pledged support for the modernization of Pakistan’s industrial sector. He emphasized that access to modern technology would help local manufacturers produce internationally competitive products, improve quality standards, and increase foreign exchange earnings through higher exports.

A six-member Pakistani delegation attended the international exhibition and later visited several Chinese cities, where meetings were held with industrial organizations and business representatives. Discussions focused on technology transfer, investment opportunities, industrial partnerships, workforce training, and skill development initiatives aimed at supporting Pakistan’s manufacturing sector.

Yasin urged policymakers to take full advantage of the Chinese offer, describing it as a strategic opportunity to transform Pakistan’s footwear industry and enhance its competitiveness in global markets.

Meanwhile, GISMA Foreign Trade Manager Zoe Chow reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening long-term cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese businesses. She encouraged Pakistani companies to actively engage with Chinese partners and assured support in facilitating future collaborations.
