1 Man, 421 Vehicles: Lahore Traffic Police Uncover Massive E-Challan Irregularity

Citizen found linked to hundreds of registered vehicles with over Rs2 million in unpaid traffic fines during a routine traffic crackdown

Lahore (Abu Ghazi) A routine traffic enforcement operation by Lahore Traffic Police has uncovered a startling case involving a citizen allegedly linked to hundreds of registered vehicles and millions of rupees in unpaid traffic fines.

The revelation came during a general traffic checkpoint when officers stopped a motorcycle rider for verification of ownership and registration details. During the inspection, authorities discovered that the vehicle was registered under the name of a citizen identified as Baz Muhammad.

Further scrutiny of official records revealed that a total of 421 vehicles, including cars, rickshaws and motorcycles, were registered under the same individual’s name, raising serious questions about vehicle registration practices and possible misuse of personal information.

Traffic authorities also found that vehicles registered under the citizen’s name had accumulated more than Rs2.08 million in outstanding e-challan fines for various traffic violations.

Following the discovery, the motorcycle involved in the inspection was impounded and shifted to Muslim Town Police Station for further investigation.

Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi has directed officials to intensify action against e-challan defaulters and individuals involved in suspicious vehicle registrations. Authorities are now expanding investigations into potentially fake or questionable registrations across the city.

Officials believe the case highlights broader challenges in enforcing traffic regulations and recovering outstanding fines, while also raising concerns about the integrity of vehicle registration records.

The CTO reiterated the department’s zero-tolerance policy against traffic law violators and warned that strict action would continue against chronic offenders and e-challan defaulters.

Investigations are underway to determine how such a large number of vehicles came to be registered under a single individual’s name and whether any legal violations were committed during the registration process.
