LAHORE(Zuaib Butt) The Emergency Services Department responded to 1,334 road traffic crashes across all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours, resulting in 18 fatalities and 1,540 injuries.
According to official statistics, 699 seriously injured victims were shifted to hospitals, while 841 people with minor injuries received treatment at the scene from Rescue Medical Teams.
Motorbikes were involved in 77 percent of the reported accidents, highlighting the need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and lane discipline to reduce road crashes.
The data showed that 881 drivers, 81 underage drivers, 158 pedestrians and 519 passengers were among those affected in the accidents.
Lahore reported the highest number of road traffic crashes, with 249 incidents affecting 297 people. Multan ranked second with 95 accidents and 100 victims, while Faisalabad recorded 84 accidents involving 92 victims.
A total of 1,558 victims were affected, including 1,224 males and 334 females. Among them, 276 were under the age of 18, 863 were between 18 and 40 years old, while 419 victims were above 40 years of age.
The accidents involved 1,395 motorbikes, 80 auto-rickshaws, 153 motorcars, 40 vans, nine passenger buses, 54 trucks and 87 other vehicles and slow-moving carts.
