Islamabad(Finale) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated the people of Gilgit-Baltistan for the successful conduct of peaceful, transparent and politically vibrant elections, describing the electoral process as a positive reflection of democratic values.
In a statement issued on Monday, the prime minister said the people of Gilgit-Baltistan deserved appreciation for their enthusiastic participation in the democratic process. He noted that the elections were held in a peaceful environment, allowing voters to freely exercise their constitutional right.
Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for emerging as the largest political force in the elections. He extended his felicitations to President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, saying their party’s performance reflected strong public support in the region.
The prime minister also congratulated the successful candidates from all political parties and independent groups, expressing hope that they would work collectively for the development and prosperity of Gilgit-Baltistan.
He praised the candidates of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for putting up a strong contest and commended the party’s election team for its efforts during the campaign.
Shehbaz Sharif further appreciated the Election Commission for ensuring a transparent, fair and impartial electoral process. He said peaceful elections and active political participation are the true spirit of democracy and strengthen public confidence in democratic institutions.
The prime minister also paid tribute to police and law enforcement agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the election period and ensuring a secure environment for voters, candidates and election staff.
He expressed confidence that the newly elected representatives would play a constructive role in addressing public issues and advancing development initiatives across Gilgit-Baltistan.
