Pakistan Democratic Alliance Demands Early Local Government Elections in Punjab

Lahore (Muhammad Naeem) The Pakistan Democratic Alliance (PDA) has called for the early conduct of local government elections in Punjab and announced plans to launch a joint struggle against rising inflation and public economic hardships.
The decision was made during a key meeting of the alliance held in Model Town, Lahore, under the chairmanship of central chairman Chaudhry Akhtar Abbas.
The meeting was attended by central leaders of the Pakistan Inqalabi Party, Pakistan Muslim League Council, Jago Tehreek Pakistan, and the Democratic Lawyers Wing, among other representatives.
Participants held detailed consultations on the country’s current political situation and preparations for the anticipated local government elections in Punjab. The attendees reaffirmed their commitment to addressing public issues, strengthening democratic values, and promoting an effective local governance system through mutual cooperation and collective political efforts.
The alliance also urged the government to take immediate steps to curb inflation and formulate a comprehensive strategy in the upcoming budget to provide relief to citizens struggling under rising living costs.
At the conclusion of the meeting, member parties unanimously agreed to adopt a joint electoral strategy for local government elections and to continue coordinated political efforts aimed at protecting public interests and strengthening grassroots democracy.
Leaders emphasized that local governments play a vital role in addressing community-level concerns and ensuring effective public service delivery. They stressed that timely local body elections are essential for democratic participation and responsive governance.
The alliance indicated that further consultations and organizational activities would continue in the coming weeks as preparations for the local government elections advance.
